DHRUPAD GURUKUL CHENNAI

Chennai Dhrupad Gurukul is an initiative of the Gundecha Brothers, representing their unwavering commitment to spreading the essence of Dhrupad to every corner of the world. Located in the heart of Chennai at Cultural Centre Spaces, this noble endeavor took shape. The inauguration took place on 8th September 2018, graced by the presence of Pt. Ramakant Gundecha and the eminent writer and photographer, Sadanand Menon. Since then, Niloy Ahsan has been a regular teacher at the Gurukul.

Spaces itself was born from a visionary concept, envisioned by the late dancer/choreographer Chandralekha, aimed at creating alternative artistic and communal spaces within the city. Initially, a barren expanse of sandy soil, tremendous efforts have been dedicated to transforming it into a verdant sanctuary for both avian and insect life, as well as a thriving hub for the arts.
